Anya Taylor-Joy Is Bringing Back the Petticoat With Sheer Hoop Skirt Moment

Throwing it all the way back to the 19th century.

Anya Taylor-Joy sees all your Bridgerton-inspired corsets and raises you a vintage petticoat moment.

On November 10, the fashion risk-taker attended the Harper's Bazaar Women of the Year Awards in nothing but 19th-century-inspired lingerie. Specifically, Taylor-Joy hit the carpet at the Claridges Hotel in London wearing a white eyelet Dior hoop skirt and matching bralette.  As if the Queen's Gambit star didn't give off enough Victorian doll energy, she wore her platinum hair in two low pigtails, perfectly contrasting all of the softness of her ensemble with smudged black eyeliner and a bold red lip.

This is a major style departure from Anya Taylor-Joy's last red carpet look, a striking leather and latex gown with matching gloves. On November 9, the actor attended the premiere of her new film The Menu wearing the electric blue Alexander McQueen ensemble, which featured a form-fitting leather bustier and asymmetrical hemline.

Anya Taylor-Joy is seen on November 09, 2022, in London, England.

So far, so good. After nailing the London stops on The Menu press tour, Taylor-Joy is on her way to New York City. “Short but sweet- big ups to one of my home towns, you were sensational,” she wrote on Instagram on November 11, taking a moment to thank her styling team for knocking her press looks out of the park. “You make my dreams come true."

If there's one thing we've come to expect from Anya Taylor-Joy, it's that she'll never serve up a boring red carpet moment. I just can't wait to see what else is on the menu…see what I did there?
